Information We Collect
PlainEstate automatically collects standard web analytics data: pages visited, time on site, browser type, device type, and approximate geographic location (country/region level). We do not collect names, email addresses, or personal identifying information unless you contact us.
Data Sources
All data displayed on this site comes from the IRS Statistics of Income (SOI) estate tax publications, state tax department publications, Tax Foundation compilations, and published state court fee schedules. No private or proprietary data is used, and no personally identifiable information from tax filings is stored or displayed, IRS SOI data is aggregated at the bracket and state level.
Editorial Independence
PlainEstate is an automated data portal: data from IRS SOI estate tax statistics, state tax departments, the Tax Foundation, and state probate statutes and fee schedules is ingested programmatically by an ETL pipeline and rendered directly from the source. The narrative profiles, guides, and methodology that surround the figures are editorially written; the PlainEstate editorial team is responsible for editorial standards and corrections.
We do not accept payment, sponsorship, or promoted placement from law firms, financial advisors, estate planning companies, or any covered entity. Our only revenue source is contextual display advertising served by Google AdSense, advertisers do not influence which jurisdictions we cover or how we present data, and they do not receive preferential placement.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 and Umami Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics uses cookies. Umami is cookieless and privacy-focused. We also use Google Search Console to monitor site performance in search results.
Advertising
We display ads through Google AdSense, which may use cookies and device identifiers to show personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized ads at Google Ad Settings or visit aboutads.info.
Cookies
We use minimal functional cookies for site preferences (dark mode). Google Analytics and AdSense may set additional cookies. See Google's privacy policy for details.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share aggregated, non-identifying data with analytics providers (Google Analytics, Umami) and advertising providers (Google AdSense) under their respective terms.
